He was 56. Ressner was Los Angeles correspondent for Time magazine from 1993-2007, profiling individuals ranging from media moguls to white supremacists. He began his career as a messenger at the L.A. Weekly eventually becoming a contributing editor. He went on to positions at Cash Box and the Hollywood Reporter, where he covered the music industry in the mid-1980s. He joined Rolling Stone as a senior writer in 1988. Next he became West Coast bureau chief for US Weekly. Later he was a staff correspondent for Politico, reporting on where Hollywood and politics intersected. In recent years, he was a regular contributor to the DGA Quarterly. Ressner was born in Lakewood, N.J., and graduated with a degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Survivors include his longtime companion, Rina Echavez; sister Lise Olson; and stepmother, Roz Ressner.
