PRO WRESTLING NEWS:
---DiBiase Jr. announces he's leaving WWE
Ted DiBiase Jr. cut a video today announcing that he was leaving WWE as this contract has expired and he decided against signing a new deal.
DiBiase Jr. hadn't been used well for years. I can't say this was expected, but it was something that had been talked about as a possibility for more tban a year.
DiBiase Jr. in the video had nothing negative to say, said he could come back, didn't give any real reasons why he was leaving other than he wanted to be a Dad and the life of a pro wrestler is hard.
He came into the company with great promise and was groomed to be one of the company's top stars, when put in Legacy with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes. His momentum died when they teased several times he was going to turn face, he didn't, and when the group broke up, Orton was quickly put over him and he was never used well.
An attempt to revive his career as the new Million Dollar Man was a bad idea, because it brought direct comparisons with his father, who was a master at the role. Plus, he was never put over to establish the role.
He had not been used well, or for that matter, hardly at all for more than a year, and was also beset by a series of injuries.
The news that Ted DiBiase Jr. is leaving WWE did not come as much of a surprise internally and wasn't met with much reaction, seen as just a "shrug" to some. Apparently DiBiase had talked privately among some of his co-workers about leaving as of late. It's said that DiBiase realized he was stuck in a position on the bottom of the ladder, on the road every week but not being booked. DiBiase felt that if he left on his own, people in WWE might respect him more and one day if they want him for something, he could come back and mean something.
DiBiase's departure speech is at
---Jerry Lawler's Museum opened over the weekend at the Resorts casino in Tunica, MS. It's now opened seven days a week, as opposed to the previous location, where it was only opened on weekend.Lawler did an interview with MemphisSport.com where he discusses the Museum's grand opening and also Ben Affleck being cast as Batman. Lawler is a huge DC Comics fan and owns an actual Batmobile, so he's got a great passion for that world.
---The one and only Terry Funk has opened an official online store at www.RealTerryFunk.com selling t-shirts and more. What, no branding irons?Speaking of Funk, our good friends at Highspots.com are now selling a Best of Funk in ECW DVD set that features just about every Funk ECW appearance ever as well as his pre-ECW feud with Eddie Gilbert, which led into ECW .
---Diamond Dallas Page has released his old classic WCW t-shirt design for sale via our friends at www.ProWrestlingTees.com
---Arda Ocal interviewed Brodus Clay at Fan Expo Canada this past weekend. During the interview, Brodus discussed No One Lives, receiving the role, filming the death scene and more. He also revealed that Christian was the stiffest worker in WWE, and talked about why he isn't featured on Total Divas despite the Funkadactlys having a big role on the show. "I know for me, I kinda like the separation," Brodus said. "I prefer the less of me involved [because] it shows a lot of their personal lives and stuff like that, and I'm not involved in their personal lives at all. Especially like Cameron, whereas Trinity, we trained at FCW together so we know each other a little bit closer. But in terms of personal relationships, like my life is very private when I'm not at work. So I really have no intention of bringing that side of me, and that show seems to be really focused on their home lives and things like that, and I wouldn't be a part of that... It's supposed to be their spotlight, and I wouldn't want to take their spotlight from them."

---Eric Bischoff recently spoke with Bob Kapur of SLAM! Wrestling. Here are some highlights from the interview:
TNA's current position:
"As someone who is very clearly associated with and very much invested in it emotionally, I want to see it succeed, obviously. I think the business, and the television business, is an extremely competitive one. It's difficult for a lot of people and for a lot of networks. We're competing with general entertainment, we're competing for extremely valuable real estate on a very important television network that's owned by a very important media conglomerate. But I think there is a ton of potential in TNA. It’s uniquely positioned to grow, and to become much larger in many ways than it is right now."
His role behind the scenes in TNA:
"My role doesn’t extend to the hiring and firing or recruiting. That’s the business side of TNA's business, and I’m not involved in that. My partner Jason Hervey and I are the Executive Producers of Impact. Essentially, my role is: to oversee the creative side of the production; to be involved in post-production as is necessary; to execute the creative direction and vision of each episode; to work closely with the network to make sure the TNA side of the equation understands the network's goals; and to be the liaison for TNA on the production side of things so that the network understands what our challenges are, and where we're going, and what we're trying to do. My involvement is really limited to the show itself. I’m not involved in many aspects of the business that the internet would suggest I’m involved in."
His son Garett Bischoff becoming a pro wrestler:
"I'm extremely proud of him. I'm very, very proud. It was a goal of his, something that he'd wanted to do since he was extremely young, as a child growing up - which I didn't really find out about until just a few years ago when he broke into the business. I'm very proud of him for working hard to do what he's needed to do. Clearly he had an advantage in getting into the business, I think everybody understands that, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think that was a factor. But he also has had to overcome a lot because of who he is, and because of who I am. And he's handled that really well. But there's a part of me that knows - and I tell him this - that this is an extremely difficult business, more difficult now than it's ever been. There's really only one big place to work, and TNA is what TNA is and where they are. It's a tough career choice when there are really only two car manufacturers and one's in mass production."
His thoughts on the Internet Wrestling Community:
"Unfortunately, the internet, the dirt sheets, the blogs, whatever you want to call them - a lot of them are operating with partial information. And that hurts a lot of the different parties involved. It hurts the talent in certain respects; it hurts the business in certain respects; it hurts the credibility of the people who write about things that they don't fully understand. It's unfortunate, but that’s the nature of the business."

---The WWE Network may be getting closer to a launch, according to sources we have talked to. The company has spent millions of dollars preparing to launch as they have bought up most of the available libraries and have spent much of the past two years digitizing content and laying the foundation for going on air.
The question remains the format. Will it be a pay network on traditional platforms like DirecTV and cable systems, or will it be exclusively available online. While both options have benefits, the company is believed to be strongly considering the future of the television industry and believes that within the next few years the way we watch television will have drastically changed and the online option may offer the best chance to get a head start on what they believe may be the norm within a few years.
It’s been a bumpy road for WWE as they have been working on the Network idea for several years. It’s a hot topic at every conference call to brief investors on quarterly financial results, and the continued delays have led some to doubt whether the Network would actually ever happen.
The expectation internally, according to our sources, is that final decisions are in the process of being made, and that an announcement could come within the next few months.

The only pre-1984 stuff on are Pedro Morales vs. Ivan Koloff, Bruno Sammartino vs. Superstar Graham and Bob Backlund matches with Ken Patera and Harley Race. The title is 50 years of history, although I think the first MSG pro wrestling show was around 1879 or 1880.
