Marvel Comics:The Untold Story
Written by Sean Howe
Released 2012 by Harper
This is the best book I have ever read on Marvel Comics. It covers Marvel from the time Martin Goodman formed it to the day Disney bought it.At $26.99, it is expensive, but well worth the read.423 pages long, but if you dig it, it will read fast. One of the biggest surprises here is all of the infighting tha was going on behind the scenes with all of the different creative teams.I also think it is fascinating when they cover all the different times Marvel has been bought by a new owner. All of the messed up movie deals are covered. This book names names and that is good for us fans and not good for the creative team. One of the biggest shockers was in 1984, Marvel was in talks to publish 10 comics from DC Comics. DC was going to shut down and license their main characters to Marvel. They did not do it because of a lawsuit by another publisher. This book is you know what good.
