DirecTV’s new one-hour drama series has been dubbed “Kingdom” and will premiere on Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the network announced on Thursday. The show, which focuses on a family mixed martial arts gym and relationships and addictions of the characters, will premiere on Audience Network. The show was created by Byron Balasco.
“Captain America’s”Frank Grillo will play fighter Alvey “King” Kulina and former boy band star Nick Jonas will play Nate, a prized fighter at the gym and Alvey’s youngest son. “Parenthood’ actor Jonathan Tucker will also play Alvey’s eldest son and a promising fighter. “House of Cards” actress Joanna Going, Matt Lauria from “Friday Night Lights,” and Kiele Sanchez from “Lost” are also part of the “Kingdom” cast.
The show will be released in a 10-episode series and will be DirectTV’s third original drama in addition to “Rogue” and “Full Circle.”
