Characters from Disney Channel’s hit show “Phineas and Ferb” are headed to space on July 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT with some of the “Stars Wars” iconic crew such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Han Solo as part of a programming special, which will premiere on Disney Channel.
The special is set a few summers ago in a galaxy far, far away, and a series of events leads Phineas and Ferb with the responsibility of saving the galaxy. The animated special incorporates the plot from “Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope.”
Throughout Phineas and Ferb’s galactic adventure, characters such as Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2 will be featured. “Phineas and Ferb” creators/executive producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh will also make cameos in the animated special.
The episode will be released in a multiplatform format starting in July. Verified users can catch a preview of “Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars” by using the Disney Channel WATCH app on July 19. It will re-air on Monday, August 4 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Disney XD.
“Phineas and Ferb,” which focuses on the summertime adventures of two stepbrothers along with their pet platypus Perry, has been one of Disney Channel’s top shows since its debut in 2007. The animated series holds the No. 1 spot for kids ages 6-11 in primetime.
Vincent Martella and Thomas Brodie-Sangster maintained their roles of providing the voices of Phineas and Ferb, respectively. Disney veteran Ashley Tisdale will be the voice of Stormtrooper Candace.
The crossover programming was born in the wake of Disney acquiring LucasFilm in 2012. The Disney company has also recently produced and released other “Star Wars” crossovers.
In addition, a preview of “Star Wars Rebels,” an upcoming series set to debut in this fall, will follow the “Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars” airing on August 4.
