Larry Lewis, who spent nearly four decades as a top administrative and financial executive for Hollywood talent agencies, died May 30 of natural causes in Edgewater, N.J. He was 89. In a rarity, Lewis held high-level administration posts at three top-flight agencies during his career: MCA, General Artists Corp./Creative Management Associates and William Morris. He retired in 1992. His son is Andy Lewis, executive vp finance and contract administration for Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution. In 1955, Lewis was named assistant controller at MCA Artists Ltd., when the firm was a talent agency. He joined GAC in 1960 as vp and treasurer and was with the company when it merged with CMA in 1969. Lewis moved to WMA as controller in 1971, later becoming senior vp and treasurer. Born in the Bronx, Lewis served in combat in Europe during World War II and received a Bronze Star, among other military honors. He then attended New York’s Columbia University, where he received a degree in economics and accounting. In addition to his son, survivors include his wife Elinor, daughters Barbara and Susan, grandchildren Jesse, Jackson, Gabriel and Julian, brother Cookie and nieces/nephews Patrice, Jeffrey and Robin.
