variety.com/2014/film/news/u-k-s-soda-picks-up-viggo-mortensen-starrer-jauja-1201193561/LONDON — U.K. distrib Soda Pictures has picked up two more films that played in Cannes’ Official Selection. It has acquired U.K. and Irish rights on Lisandro Alonso’s “Jauja,” which played in Un Certain Regard and won the international critics’ federation (Fipresci) prize. The film stars Viggo Mortensen as a Danish soldier in Argentina, who goes into the desert to search for his daughter. The deal was negotiated between Soda m.d. Eve Gabereau and NDM’s Fiorella Moretti. The distrib has also picked up Naomi Kawase’s “Still the Water,” which played in the Official Competition. The film, set on the subtropical Japanese island of Amami-Oshima, deals with teens coming to terms with the cycles of life, death and love. The deal was done by Gabereau and MK2′s Fionnuala Jameson.
