variety.com/2014/film/news/young-actors-line-up-for-the-chloe-moretz-movie-the-fifth-wave-1201188111/Sony continues the search for potential new franchises, with one possibility being sci-fi pic “The Fifth Wave” starring Chloe Moretz, which is gearing up for production with a handful of young actors expected to test with Moretz this weekend. Sources tell Variety that among those expected to test are “Mud” thesp Tye Sheridan, “Jurassic World’s” Nick Robinson and Mitchell Hope. Insiders add more could be added but the list isn’t expected to grow by that much. Pic is based on the novel about a teenager who survives four waves of deadly attacks against the Earth’s population from an alien force. On the run to save her younger brother, she meets a young man who may become her final hope. GK Films principal Graham King will produce with Tobey Maguire and Matthew Plouffe of Material Pictures. Actors including Robert Pattinson, Josh Hutcherson and Theo James have gotten career boosts thanks to YA adaptations “Twilight,” “The Hunger Games” and “Insurgent,” and this role could prove similarly influential for the young man that lands this role. Sheridan was most recently seen on this season of FX’s “Justified” while Robinson is in production on Universal’s “Jurassic World.” Hope is set to star in Disney Channel’s “The Descendants” which the network hopes will become the next “High School Musical.”
