variety.com/2014/film/news/penguins-of-madagascar-release-date-home-1201187374/DreamWorks Animation will shuffle the release dates on “Penguins of Madagascar” and “Home,” the studio said Tuesday. “Penguins of Madagascar” will now slide into the Nov. 26, 2014 release date originally intended for “Home,” while the latter film will decamp for the March 27, 2015 debut spot vacated by the “Madagascar” spin-off. “Penguins of Madagascar” will face off against “Horrible Bosses 2.” “Home,” an adaptation of the children’s book “The True Meaning of Smekday,” will do battle with the Will Ferrell comedy “Get Hard.” Both films will be released in IMAX and in 3D. “We will continue to be as flexible as necessary when it comes to our release dates,” said Dawn Taubin, chief marketing officer at DreamWorks Animation, in a statement. “We’re confident that this date switch gives both of our upcoming releases the largest opportunity for success,” she added. The musical chairs comes as DreamWorks Animation has worked to expand the number of films it releases annually from roughly two to three major releases.
