Jessie and the Ross kids will return next year for a fourth season of Disney Channel comedy “Jessie,” the network announced today.
The live-action family fave, whose third season is currently airing, will begin production on season four in August, to premiere in January on the network.
For 2014 to date, “Jessie” is TV’s No. 1 telecast in its time period, and overall, it’s TV’s No. 2-rated live-action series, in kids 2-11 (1.6 million/4.0 rating) and kids 6-11 (1.3 million/5.4 rating), and the No. 4 TV series in tweens 9-14 (1.2 million/4.8 rating). Its most recent episode, last Friday, averaged 2.38 million same-night viewers and was the night’s No. 1 program (broadcast and cable) in teens and other younger demos, according to Nielsen.
“Jessie,” which bowed in September 2011, stars Debby Ryan as a young Texas woman who moves to New York City and becomes a nanny for a family with children adopted from India, Africa and America.
One episode in the current season will be directed by the 21-year-old Ryan, who also serves as a producer on the show. And an upcoming storyline is the engagement of Jessie and her beau Brooks.
Kevin Chamberlin, Peyton List, Karan Brar, Cameron Boyce and Skai Jackson co-star. The series, a production of It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc., was created by Pamela Eells O’Connell, who serves as executive producer.
