variety.com/2014/news/kickboxer-crew-members-still-unpaid-as-union-presses-producers-1201389833/‘Kickboxer’ Crew Members Still Unpaid as Union Presses Producers About 150 union crew members on the remake of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s “Kickboxer” have not received their pay following the wrap of filming in New Orleans several weeks ago. An attorney for Ted Field’s Radar Pictures has told Variety that the payments will be made by early next week. The failure to pay members of the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees has provoked a strong response from Mike Miller, president of the union’s motion picture division. “Since Radar Pictures’ funding fell through in mid-December, the IATSE has been in ongoing discussions with the affected IATSE Locals, the production company, and producer Ted Field to recover the money owed to our members,” he said. “We will pursue every avenue available to us to make our members whole. We take these breaches of contract very seriously and will not rest until this issue is resolved.” Executive producer Mike Weber told Variety, “We had a bridge lender/financier pull out at the last minute (for the last week of crew payroll) but we have replaced that lender and the crew will all be paid in full this week.” Jonathan Freund, an attorney representing Radar, told Variety that a formal announcement will made on Wednesday aimed at resolving the issue and added that the crew members will receive their pay by early next week. Van Damme joined the reboot of “Kickboxer” after it began shooting in New Orleans, replacing Tony Jaa in the Master Chow role. Producers are Field of Radar Films, Dimitri Logothetis and Nick Celozzi.
