Stephen Ketcher, who wrestled for WWF in the 1980s in a low level position on house shows as "Steve Gatorwolf" turned himself in to Colorado authorities today and was arrested on seven counts of sexual assault on a child and seven accounts of sexual assault. The victim was the daughter of a woman Ketcher knew, with the abuse allegedly taking place over several months.
Charges against Ketcher were filed this past March, at which point he went on the run. Authorities had been looking for him in the Jacksonville, Florida area as he had connections there. Earlier today, they began a media campaign alerting locals that Ketcher may be in the area.
Ketcher then surrendered at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office in Green Cove Springs, Florida just a few hours later, according to radio station KOVK 104.5 in Colorado.
Ketcher, as Steve Gatorwolf, worked for the WWF and AWA as a wrestler in the mid-1980s often losing preliminary matches on television and house shows. His most prominent match was teaming with the late Jay Strongbow as his partner in a tag team battle royal that headlined Madison Square Garden in October 1986.
Gatorwolf made appearances for both companies through early 1990 and then went on to promote independent wrestling events in the Southwest. He also promoted MMA events in the same region about a decade ago.
Ketcher is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow morning. The arrest has received a lot of media attention in the Florida and Colorado areas.
