www.bleedingcool.com/2014/05/06/lena-headey-to-star-in-film-of-clive-barkers-jacqueline-ess-from-the-books-of-blood/Word went around at the beginning of the year that Raven Banner would be adapting Clive Barker’s Jacqueline Ess into a movie. Variety have now learned who the director and star will be ahead of the project’s unveiling in the Cannes marketplace. Lena Headey will star in the film as the depressed housewife who can control other people’s bodies with her mind, even as far as collapsing, compressing or ripping them apart. The director is to be Jovanka Vuckovic, who is rather well known for her short, The Captured Bird. Jacqueline Ess is not a cheerful story but it’s a potent one and if the adaptation is good, this should be worth waiting for. Barker’s imagination is rich in strong, deeply resonant ideas and deserves a smart, nuanced realisation on the big screen. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed.
