variety.com/2014/film/news/industry-attendance-on-the-rise-at-2014-tribeca-film-festival-1201165893/The 2014 Tribeca Film Festival logged 923 industry delegates to this year’s fest, up from 832 the prior year. Overall some 120,000 moviegoers turned out for the 13th annual TFF across 400 screenings and panel events, according to fest organizers. About on par with last year’s tally of 117,000 attendees, the 2014 attendance figure came in at 95% of capacity. This year’s festival, which ended April 27, comprised 89 features and 57 shorts, nearly the same size as last year’s edition of 89 features and 60 shorts. As is often the case, Tribeca didn’t yield a huge amount of acquisition news. Just before the festival ended, Radius-TWC closed a deal on “Keep On Keepin’ On,” the music doc that scored one of the festival’s audience award as well as a juried prize for new documentary director. Earlier in the week the Joss Whedon-penned and produced “In Your Eyes” turned heads when Whedon announced, immediately following the film’s Tribeca premiere, that the pic would be released digitally for $5 per streaming rental. The 2014 festival’s total attendance number jumps to 400,000 when you include the estimated 275,000 who turned out for the annual Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair and Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day, plus the 3,250 visitors to the Storyscapes transmedia projects and 3,200 who showed up for the free outdoor screenings of pics include “Mary Poppins,” “Splash” and “Next Goal Wins.”
