Donald Orrin “Buddy” Danielson, 57 years of age and a longtime Hoquiam, Washington area resident, died on Monday, April 21, 2014, at his home in Hoquiam. He was born on July 18, 1956, in Minot, North Dakota to Donald and Marilyn (Streater) Danielson.
As an infant his family lived in Douglas, North Dakota for five years. They then moved to Glide, Oregon where he attended grade school, to Orting, Washington in 1966 where he attended middle school and to Quinault, Washington in 1968 where he graduated from high school. He later attended Peninsula College in Port Angeles where he earned his associate of arts degree.
As a youth he liked to play football, basketball and go hunting. He helped around the house by chopping wood, mowing lawns, weeding and helping his elderly neighbors to include his Uncle Herbert. While at Quinault he started working in the woods for Don Bell Logging and the forest service. He then worked for Rainy Method to install raw H2O collecting systems. He later worked at Grays Harbor Paper until it closed and was working for Pacific Rim Log Scaling at the time of his death.
He enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife. Their most memorable trips were going to Penrose State Park and Reno. He had also ventured to Walden Pond, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Rhode Island, Utah and Reno. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, clam digging, oyster picking, duck hunting, surfing and watching his grandchildren play sports. He fondly remembered the times his grandchildren were born, when his son made it into the WWE and walking his daughter down the aisle.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Jean “Darbi” Danielson of the family home in Hoquiam; his sons, Bryan Danielson of Phoenix, Arizona and Jason Brown of California; his daughters, Billie Sue Deck of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Jeri Ann Nagala of Hoquiam and Kelly Marlene Sutera of Aberdeen; a brother, Sherman “Lucky” Danielson of Antioch, California; three sisters, Denice Cole of Arden, North Carolina, Earlene McDonald of Cedar Hills, Utah and Glenna Theel of Payson, Utah; six grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Danielson.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
