Combat Zone Wrestling 4/12 Best of the Best Voorhees, NJ results
Combat Zone Wrestling returned to action last night live and on iPPV for Best of the Best 13 at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ before a good crowd (even better considering it was competing with the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley fight).
The evening opened with a 10 bell count for Jim "The Ultimate Warrior" Hellwig.
It was then followed by intoductions of all the Best of the Best participants with a group photo alongside the trophy with CZW owner DJ Hyde.
Hyde was getting ready to do a promo, when storming through the crowd, unannounced, came Kevin Steen who package piledrove DJ Hyde twice and left him laying.
Best of the Best first round matches
Chuck Taylor defeated Buxx Belmar and Lucky 13, by pinfall after an Awful Waffle
Biff Busick defeated Caleb Konley and Azrieal, pinning Azrieal
Drake Younger defeated Tim Thatcher and Greek God Papadon, pinning Timothy Thatcher after a copkiller. Best pure wrestling match of the night
AR Fox defeated Andrew Everett and Mike Bailey, pinning Mike Bailey after a one man Spanish Fly. This was a great high spot fest as you'd expect.
CZW Wired TV Championship - Ladder Match
Shane Strickland successfully defended over Nation of Intoxication Devon Moore after climbing the ladder to grab the belt. Multiple ladders, a chair and a barbed wire table were brought into the fun. The crowd inexplicably crapped on Strickland late in the match after he kicked away a barbed wire table set up by Moore. Moore got up post-finish and chewed out those booing Strickland
Best of the Best semi-final matches
Biff Busick defeated Chuck Taylor by submission after a rear naked choke/body scissors submission
Drake Younger defeated AR Fox by pinfall after a copkiller
#1 Contender's Match for the CZW World Tag Team Titles
The Juicy Product defeated Ohio Is 4 Killers by pinfall to become number one contenders for the CZW Tag Team Champions
Best of the Best final
Drake Younger defeated Biff Busick by pinfall after a copkiller to win Best of the Best 13 after kicking out of repeated finishes by Busick.
The feel-good ending (remind you of any recent PPVs?) was really popular. The locker room emptied as Younger spoke out of character to the crowd, on his way to WWE developmental (rumored to possibly be as a referee) thanked the crowd. In part Youngre said "What a memorable night at CZW with such great friends...I've worked there for 8 years and represented the company in 6 different countries. Tonight, I said goodbye. It's really awesome to work with such quality people."
The originally scheduled tag match with DJ Hyde and a mystery partner vs. BLK Jeez and Tommy Dreamer didn't take place, as BLK Jeez was called for the TNA "One Night Only" PPV taping (which took place last night). Tommy Dreamer did not appear. He had had been booked at Independent Wrestling Federation in Nutley, NJ, but has certainly done double-shots before. No word if he was pulled after BLK Jeez was taken off. It would seem that DJ Hyde was written out after the two Steen package piledrivers. Truth be told, it was just as well it didn't take place last night, as BOTB was in and of itself a full evening.
