She was 72. Kobrin joined the Warner Bros. legal department in 1998 and most recently served as VP of senior intellectual property counsel and head of the Trademark Group. Kobrin managed the Warner Bros. worldwide trademark portfolio as well as the portfolios of Warner Bros.’ affiliated companies, such as DC Comics. She was also responsible for a wide range of legal services, including clearance and risk assessment, and ensuring that business projects were supported by secured trademark rights. “Janet was relied upon by our executives and lawyers to make important trademark decisions around the world for our crown jewel properties. She was a wonderful lawyer and great colleague, and we will greatly miss her,” said John Rogovin, exec VP and general counsel at Warner Bros. Entertainment. She was a member of the International Trademark Association, the Copyright Society of the USA and the Los Angeles Copyright Society, for which she served on the board of directors. Kobrin was named Intellectual Property Lawyer of the Year by the Century City Bar Association in 2008 and In-House Counsel of the Year by World Trademark Review in 2010
