The incident took place about 10:55 a.m. outside the Fantasy Shop at 2426 West Clay Street. Police said the gunman implied he had a weapon when he demanded that the employee turn over the bank bag. The employee was walking to the store. Police didn't say how much money was in the bag. The gunman was last seen running north along Droste Road, police said. Five schools in the vicinity were placed on lockdown for about 90 minutes although there was no direct threat to the schools, the St. Charles School District said on its Facebook page. The lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m., the district said. Affected were St. Charles West High School and Null, Monroe, Jefferson Intermediate and Lewis and Clark schools, the district said. The suspect was described as white with dark brown hair, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing a navy blue Cardinals jacket, dark blue pants and dark-colored tennis shoes. CHARLES - A 24-year-old St. Louis County man was charged Tuesday with a robbery Monday of an employee of a St. Charles comic-book store. Police said the man, Adam B. Radigan, of the 11700 block of Westport Crossing Drive near Maryland Heights, was arrested Monday night. He was being held with bail set at $50,000. The incident took place about 10:55 a.m. Monday outside the Fantasy Shop at 2426 West Clay Street. Police said the suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded that a female employee of the store give him a bank bag she was carrying. A court document said the bag contained $26 in coins. Police said he fled the scene on foot. The St. Charles County prosecutor's office said Radigan was arrested at a hotel he was staying at near Interstate 70 and First Capitol Drive in St. Charles.
