He was 82. Martinus helmed iconic episodes for the 50-year-old series featuring the first three Doctors, including Doc William Hartnell’s regeneration into Patrick Troughton and the first “Doctor Who” ep in color. He directed 26 episodes between 1965 and 1970. He also worked on the long-running series “United,” “The Doctors,” “Blake’s 7″ and “Penmarric.” Other shows included “The Black Tulip,” “What Maisie Knew” and “A Legacy” as well as children’s award-winning programs ”The Paper Lads” and “Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest.” Martinus got his start in the theater, where he often worked with his wife of 50 years, Eivor. His plays included “Volpone,” “Mad Forest” and “The Homecoming.” He is survived by his wife, two daughters and three grandchildren.
