Veteran wrestling referee/office worker James Beard has been named by the NWA as "Director of Talent Relations."
Beard's role will mainly be "acting as a liaison between talent, licensed promotions, and the NWA office," according to a press release.
The NWA also hired on Beard due to his extensive work in Japan, which the NWA is tapping into as part of their relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Beard is most-known for his work in the World Class promotion in the 1980s, working under Fritz Von Erich during the heyday of the Texas Wrestling scene.
Beard tried out for a WWE referee role earlier this decade, but was not hired.
He recently released an autobiography on his wrestling career, "The Third Man: My Life And Times Inside The Ring And Out."
