Based on William Gibson’s novel, the project, which has been put into script development with series option, hails from Nolan and Lisa Joy’s Kilter Films in association with Warner Bros. Television, where both Nolan and Lisa Joy are under overall deals, and Amazon Studios. Written by Scott B. Smith, an Oscar nominee for A Simple Plan, and directed by Vincenzo Natali, who has helmed two episodes of Westworld, The Peripheral follows Flynne Fisher, a woman in a near future America in which technology has started to subtly alter society. Flynne discovers a hidden connection to a very different reality — and the dark future of her own. Nolan, Joy and Athena Wickham executive produce via Kilter Films alongside Smith, Natali and Steven Hoban. The project is part of Amazon’s push in big-scope, genre drama series. Season 2 of Westworld, which Nolan and Joy co-created based on the 1973 film, and executive produce, premieres this Sunday. Nolan and Joy are repped by WME. Smith is repped by ICM Partners and Circle of Confusion. Natali is with CAA and Gotham Group.
