Stan Lee Threatens to ‘Sue the Ass Off’ Those Making Elder Abuse Claims
In a fiery new video, Stan Lee denied allegations that he’s been the subject of elder abuse, and repeatedly threatened to sue those responsible for what he characterizes as “slander.”
The response follows an in-depth article published Tuesday by The Hollywood Reporter that included accusations of physical and psychological abuse by Lee’s daughter J.C. Lee, and a notarized declaration by the 95-year-old comics creator that three men, including his current primary caregiver Keya Morgan, had tried to take advantage of J.C. in an effort to “gain control over my assets, property and money.” In a subsequent video recorded by Morgan, Lee denounced the signed declaration, and insisted he had great relationships with his daughter and friend Morgan.
In the latest video, recorded by Morgan and released by TMZ, Lee accuses unnamed outlets of “publishing harmful material about me and my friend Keya and some others, material that is totally incorrect, that is totally based in slander, totally the kind of thing I’m going to sue your ass off when I get a chance.”
“It’s as if you suddenly have a vendetta against me and against the people I work with,” he said. “Well, I want you to know I’m going to spend every penny I have to put a stop to this and to make you sorry that you suddenly went on a one-man campaign against somebody with no proof, no evidence, no anything, but you’ve decided that people are mistreating me, and therefore you’re going to publish those articles. I’m going to get the best and most expensive lawyers I can, and I want you to know, if you don’t stop these articles and publish retractions, I’m going to sue your ass off.”
Joan Lee, Stan Lee’s wife of 70 years, passed away in December at age 93. Since then, one of Lee’s associates has been accused of stealing $300,000 from his bank account, and using $850,000 of his money to buy a condominium. The same person is alleged to have forged an order for a nurse to draw “several vials” of Lee’s blood, which a recent report suggests was used to create ink to sign comic books.
Stan Lee has also been accused of sexual misconduct, which his attorney has dismissed as part of an extortion scheme.
