Now the other shoe has apparently dropped in an already-bizarre story. TMZ, which regularly reports on Lee, contends Black Panther comic books are being sold at Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. at Treasure Island Las Vegas bearing certificates attesting they’re “Hand-Stamped Signature of STAN LEE using Stan Lee’s Solvent DNA Ink.” The outlet reports copies with Lee’s signature in blue ink are selling for $250, while those in gold go for $500. The former business associate is alleged to have presented a nurse with a forged document in October that gave him the authority to order a blood sample. The nurse reportedly obliged, and drew “several vials” of blood from Lee — enough to make him dizzy. The same associate is also accused of stealing $300,000 from Lee’s bank account, and using $850,000 of his money to buy a condominium. The series of events, combined with allegations of sexual misconduct that Lee’s attorney dismissed as part of an extortion scheme, have led many of his fans and colleagues to express concern about his well-being. Lee also experienced a health scare in February, and later canceled a planned convention appearance because of pneumonia. Joan Lee, his wife of 70 years, passed away in December at age 93.
