Saban Films has picked up the North American rights to Luke Sparke's Occupation, which stars Aquaman actor Temuera Morrison. Clay Epstein’s Film Mode Entertainment secured the North American sale of the sci-fi action film at Berlin's European Film Market, Sparke's follow-up to his 2016 monster pic Red Billabong. Occupation, which Sparke wrote and directed, also stars Dan Ewing, Rhiannon Fish and Bruce Spence. The film, which was shot on Australia's Gold Coast, has also been sold to Altitude Films for the U.K., Ascot-Elite for Germany and earlier went to Pinnacle Films for the theatrical rights for Australia and New Zealand. Occupation portrays an intergalactic attack on Earth, when the last surviving group of humans must band together for the sake of survival. As war looms, and the struggle to stay alive worsens, they realize the only way to save the human race is to stay one step ahead of their attackers and strike back. Occupation is produced by SparkeFilms, with Carly Imrie and Carmel Imrie producing. The deal was negotiated by Epstein, president of Film Mode Entertainment, and Jonathan Saban, senior vp of distribution, sales and marketing for Saban Films.
