Solo: Pablo Hidalgo Teases Film’s Place in the Timeline
Pablo Hidalgo, a creative executive in story development at Lucasfilm, has teased the place of Solo: A Star Wars Story in the franchise’s timeline, saying that there’s a big gap between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and the upcoming film.
“If this helps you, (and I’m sure a lot of you have realized this already) there’s a significant chunk of time between Episode III and Solo,” Hidalgo wrote on Twitter. “I won’t specify how much yet. Will leave that to someone else.”
Episode III, otherwise known as Revenge of the Sith, takes place 19 years before the events of A New Hope and is the final film in the prequel trilogy. There were originally plans to have a young Solo appear in Revenge of the Sith, though they never came to fruition. By the time the events of Revenge of the Sith were taking place, Solo would have been around 10 years old.
The long-anticipated trailer for Solo dropped on Monday.
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
Directed by Ron Howard from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, in addition to Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Woody Harrelson. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 25.
