CODY & THE YOUNG BUCKS PLANNING TO SELF-FINANCE 10,000 SEAT SHOW
BY JOSEPH CURRIER | @josephcurrier | NOV 28, 2017 10:48 AM
One of the more interesting planned non-WWE pro wrestling shows of 2018 appears closer to becoming a reality.
After Cody Rhodes posted a picture with The Young Bucks and Marty Scurll on a "scouting trip" at a venue earlier this month, Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Cody and The Young Bucks are in talks with multiple venues to self-finance a 10,000 seat show in 2018. The report noted that the show, which has been talked about for months, is currently planned to be called "All In" and mentioned Chicago, London, San Francisco, and Ontario, California as possibilities for where it could take place.
The idea originated from a Twitter exchange between Dave Meltzer and Cody in May, with Cody taking it as a challenge when Meltzer answered "not any time soon" when someone asked if Ring of Honor could sell over 10,000 tickets to an event. Cody and the Bucks would be partnering with ROH on the show if they're able to reach an agreement.
Cody tweeted last night: "We can't comment officially until we confirm the location, but we are far enough in the process to say it's happening. In 2018. And we are swinging for the you know what fences... dare to Dream"
Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the planned event on last night's edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, with Meltzer saying it's not a done deal because Cody and Matt & Nick Jackson would need ROH's approval. Meltzer mentioned that there hasn't been a non-WWE show to sell 10,000 tickets in the United States since WCW stopped operating, that it could still be a success if they fall short of their goal, and that he thinks Cody and the Bucks are hoping to make the announcement soon if they're able to finalize everything.
