There was a planned Bruno Sammartino statue to be revealed in Pittsburgh that we wrote about months ago but that project is now on hold.
The original idea was to put a Bruno statue near the statue of NHL legend Mario Lemieux, on the site of the old Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, which has since been torn down.
However, the Pittsburgh Penguins, who own the land, have stated that they would not allow anyone other than Lemieux to be memorialized with a statue on the grounds.
Sammartino says the funds and sponsorships to build the statue are all there and it's just about finding a location now.
