Emmy winner Christiane Paul joins Francesco Mazzini and a strong ensemble cast in Mr. Rudolpho’s Jubilee, Under The Milky Way's first co-production together with Bright Blue Gorilla.
Described as "enchantingly original" by HuffPost, this genre-defying mash-up of romance, screwball comedy, musical, and crime-drama tells the story of a world-famous Italian fashion designer who becomes disillusioned with his shallow life and decides to commit suicide during Berlin Fashion Week. Fortunately, his plan doesn't fall through and he's taken in by a group of strange Bohemian artists. Meanwhile, cops, killers, reporters, and Interpol all search for him... The plot thickens, spins and churns with love, music, and comic mayhem!
After receiving positive reception for their film's theatrical release in Europe, producers Robyn Rosenkrantz and Michael Glover are now trotting the world, continuing to gather fans and raise enthusiasm among audiences!
Rudolpho was recently nominated for the Golden Heart Trellick Prize at the Portobello Film Festival in London and released digitally last week on all major online stores worldwide - 86 countries in total. If you haven't seen it yet, you won't want to miss it! Now available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Xbox.
If you have already rented or bought the film, you can receive the soundtrack for free! Simply email Robyn at bbg@brightbluegorilla.com saying you've seen it for more information.
More interesting projects are undertheway at The Milky Way! We have acquired U.S. rights to two exciting music biopics, Dalida and Django.
From director Lisa Azuelos comes Dalida, a vibrant biopic and intimate portrait of Egyptian-born Franco-Italian superstar and acclaimed music icon and her 30-year dazzling career. With over 170 million albums sold, Dalida received more than 70 gold records, some of her best hits including "Bang Bang", "Paroles Paroles" and "Avec le temps".
The film takes us on a journey from her difficult childhood in Egypt during WWII all the way to the summits of stardom and through her final moments. It will give Dalida fans an unprecedented look into the life of one of the most modern, liberated, and talented women of the 20th century.
Dalida opened in early September at Miami's Tower Theater and has more theatrical and festival screenings expected this fall, notably at SIFF, the Seattle International Film Festival. Its digital release is set for early December.
Django, the opening film of this year's Berlinale, is a powerful wartime biopic by Étienne Comar focusing on the life of legendary Romani jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt.
Reinhardt, elegantly interpreted by Reda Kateb (A Prophet, Zero Dark Thirty), is a phenomenon in 1943 Paris, thrilling audiences with his distinctive brand of “hot jazz” and charming admirers, including his muse, played by Cécile de France (Hereafter, Chinese Puzzle). But even as the rise of Nazism forces Reinhardt to make a daring escape from Paris – his music being considered degenerate under the Third Reich – he refuses to be silenced, and his music becomes a form of protest. Kateb’s impressive performance is sure to keep audiences on their tapping toes.
Theatrical release is scheduled for early January. In the meantime, it will be screened at various prestigious film festivals, including SIFF and the Philadelphia Film Festival.
