Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Launches Book Imprint With Atria
The company will publish original fiction and work based on existing intellectual property. Skybound Entertainment, the company founded by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, is partnering with Simon & Schuster’s Atria Books on a new imprint, Skybound Books.
The new imprint will focus on science fiction, fantasy and horror and aims to publish four to six books a year, mixing original titles and spinoffs of existing Skybound IP.
Michael Braff has joined as the Los Angeles-based senior editor. He previously served a decade at Penguin Random House, editing science fiction and fantasy for Del Rey Books. Skybound editorial director Sean Mackiewicz will oversee the imprint in his new roles as senior vp, editor-in-chief at Skybound Entertainment.
“We are on a relentless search to find different ways to tell the stories from some the most creative minds out there, and Skybound Books imprint is a very important component of that endeavor," Kirkman said in a statement.
Founded in 2010, Skybound Entertainment is a multiplatform entertainment company. It recently announced a film adaptation of Kirkman’s second-longest running series, Invincible, with Seth Rogen and Even Goldberg attached to write and direct.
