Vine Alternative Investments Acquires Rights To Several Relativity Films
Earlier this month, Vine acquired a controlling interest in Village Roadshow Entertainment
Vine Alternative Investments announced Thursday that it has acquired Manchester Library Company, a holding company whose slate of 30 films includes titles including such Relativity Media titles as the Oscar-winning The Fighter, Limitless and Dear John. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but, collectively, the 30 films were said to have grossed $1.5 billion in worldwide box office. The library includes the underlying remake and sequel rights to many of the titles.
The announcement was made during an industry panel discussion at Winston Baker's TV and Film Finance Forum in New York by Vine partner Stephen Kovach.
“The Manchester transaction reinforces Vine’s strategy to leverage and parlay our expertise in managing and owning scalable entertainment assets," Vine CEO Jim Moore said in a separate statement. "This library has the right blend of genres, rights opportunities and evergreen appeal that fits within our asset program."
The Manchester library includes the Rogue film library and several other independently-produced films.
Vine was represented in the transaction by Morgan Lewis. Manchester was advised by Evolution Media Capital and repped by O'Melveny & Myers.
This acquisition follows closely on the heels of the news that Vine, along with Falcon Investment Advisors, has acquired a controlling interest in Village Roadshow Entertainment Group, with Moore assuming the title of chairman, VREG.
Vine, a specialized asset manager, was founded in 2006.
