FilmRise has acquired North American distribution right to Ernesto Contreras’ I Dream In Another Language,The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The film, which won the Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at this year's Sundance Film Festival, will be released theatrically in mid-2017. The Mexico-set story follows a young university researcher who is searching for a way to save the lost language of Zikril, though its last two indigenous speakers have separated because of a 50-year-old grudge. FilmRise has also nabbed North American distribution rights to Felipe Bragança’s debut narrative film Don’t Swallow My Heart, Alligator Girl! after its world premiere at Sundance. It will stream later this year on Amazon Prime Video as part of the platform's Film Festival Stars distribution model for titles screened at film festivals. The contemporary, star-crossed teen romance is set on the unsettled boarder between Brazil and Paraguay, where a gang war is flourishing. The deals were negotiated between FilmRise’s CEO Danny Fisher and vp of acquisitions Max Einhorn, as well as Mundial’s general manager Cristina Garza.
