On the red carpet of the Iron Man 3 premiere, Avengers 2 writer-director Joss Whedon may have revealed who two of those new characters will be in Avengers 2.
"When you're dealing with the story, when you've got the characters that you love, when you've got the new characters sliding in next to them - it's very exciting. Then I don't feel pressure, then I feel like I'm reading my favorite comic," Whedon began telling Yahoo!News. "I've got these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic book, a brother-sister act, they're in the movie. That's exciting! You lock certain things in, there's a fluidity."
The statement came soon after telling the Yahoo! reporter that he had "finished a draft" of the Avengers 2 script, and said it was "in really good shape. We're in a really good place."
Of course, the most famous "brother-sister act" associated with The Avengers is that of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. The twin children of X-Men villain Magneto, the pair debuted as members of his "Brotherhood of Evil Mutants" in 1964's X-Men #4. Soon after, in 1965, they turned hero, joining The Avengers in issue 16 of the first volume, alongside members Captain America, Iron Man, and Hawkeye - three characters that should sound awfully familiar to movie fans.
