www.bleedingcool.com/2017/01/01/disney-will-make-50-million-carrie-fishers-death/Disney Will Make $50 Million From Carrie Fisher’s Death Posted by Jude Terror January 1, 2017 Disney stands to receive a $50 million insurance payment from Carrie Fisher’s death, according to a report from The Daily Mail (and various other outlets). The windfall is a result of an insurance policy taken from Lloyd’s of London based on Carrie Fisher completing a contract for filming for three Star Wars movies. Though Fisher completed filming on Episode 8 before her death last week, Episode 9 will reportedly need to be rewritten. Not your traditional insurance company, Lloyd’s is a corporate body made up of multiple financial backers. It has famously offered unusual insurance policies to entertainers, including a policy on Jimmy Durante’s nose, Keith Richards‘ fingers, Whitney Houston’s vocal chords, Rich Johnston’s friendship with Kieron Gillen, and the bodies of several professional wrestlers. The $50 million payout for Disney is only the second most anyone has profited off Fisher’s death. A certain comic book website whose name we won’t mention has probably made five times that sum from the literally hundreds of clickbait articles exploiting her death they’ve published in the past week.
