MARVEL EXPANDS TITLES TIED TO NETFLIX CHARACTERS
For Spring 2017
Given the popularity of its Netflix shows, Marvel has expanded their publishing slate to include characters from the hit series, with new comics centered on Kingpin, Elektra, and Bullseye and a new Iron Fist collection lined up for early 2017.
Launching February 8, the new Kingpin ongoing is written by Matthew Rosenberg and drawn by Ben Torres. Much like Vincent D'Onofrio’s Kingpin in the first season of Netflix’s Daredevil, the comics find Wilson Fisk back in his home town and ready to make his mark as a legitimate businessman.
We met Elektra in Daredevil Season 2, and we’ll see her next in Netflix’s The Defenders. The new ongoing comic series will be written by Matt Owens and drawn by Alec Morgan. The series moves Elektra from Hell’s Kitchen to Las Vegas, where she tries to lose herself in the bright lights of the city of sin. Elektra #1 debuts on February 22.
Bullseye hasn’t yet made an appearance in the Netflix Marvel universe, but he is rumored to appear in Daredevil Season 3. The popular villain is set for Bullseye, a five-issue miniseries written by Ed Brisson and drawn by Guillermo Sanna. Bullseye looks for fun in South America in the deadly first issue, which hits stands February 1.
Danny Rand will make his debut in Netflix’s Iron Fist in March, and Marvel is set to relive classic Iron Fist stories in Iron Fist: The Book of Changes. The trade features a cast of Marvel all-stars, including Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Sabretooth, and more. The 272-page full-color trade paperback collects Spider-Man (1990) #41–43; stories from Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #111, #113–118, #125–137, and #140–141; and material from Namor Annual #3. MSRP is $34.99, and the book will be on stands April 2017.
