LOTS OF RING OF HONOR CONTRACT UPDATES, DEPARTURE FROM COMPANY, 2 NEW SIGNINGS, UK LINEUPS AND MORE
By Mike Johnson on 2016-11-11 11:18:00
As we have been discussing over the last several weeks on different PWInsider Elite audio shows, a number of Ring of Honor contracts will be coming up over the next several months including The Young Bucks, Jay Lethal, War Machine, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish. The company is in the midst of negotiating a number of new deals currently. It will be interesting to see how the landscape of the company changes, if at all.
Veda Scott has departed Ring of Honor, PWInsider.com has confirmed. I personally found that somewhat surprising given that she broke into the business at their school in Bristol, PA and worked her way up from ring crew to a role as a manager and performer in the Women of Honor division. We are told that she gave the company notice last week that she was leaving and is already finished here.
It is also interesting to note that Lio Rush, who is under contract here until early 2017, is soliciting indy bookings for the first three months of that year.
This past weekend's Survival of the Fittest events from Texas are already available via VOD at www.ROHWrestling.com.
Ring of Honor officially announced that UK stars Marty Scurll and Will Ospreay have signed with the company. They will debut on the forthcoming UK tour. The company's official announcement reads as follows:
Two International Stars Sign Exclusive ROH Deals
Will Ospreay and Marty Scurll to Complete in ROH Beyond UK Tour!
The professional wrestling world was abuzz when Ring of Honor announced that the “Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay and “The Villain” Marty Scurll would be appearing on ROH’s Reach for the Sky Tour events in their home country, the United Kingdom. Many assumed that this would just be a temporary arrangement to showcase two of the UK’s best wrestling free agents in a ROH ring.
ROHWrestling.com is proud to announce that both Will Ospreay and Marty Scurll have signed exclusive Ring of Honor contracts that will see both men compete beyond the UK tour!
Ospreay gained undeniable international acclaim in 2016 by becoming the youngest-ever and first English winner of the prestigious Best of the Super Juniors Tournament hosted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Once one of the best-kept secrets in pro wrestling, Ospreay is one of the most in-demand talents in the world dazzling fans with his aerial tactics and mat wrestling!
Scurll is no stranger to UK fans but his transformation into the man known as “The Villain” has propelled Scurll to previous unseen heights. In perhaps of the deepest Pro Wrestling Guerrilla “Battle for Los Angeles” tournament fields in history, Scurll cemented his mark in the United States by defeating five of the world’s best independent stars in four matches to become the first UK star to win BOLA!
These two will be tested right out of the gate: on November 18 in Liverpool, Scurll will face one of ROH’s most popular stars, Dalton Castle while Ospreay will face the ROH World Television Champion Bobby Fish in a Proving Ground Match! This is a big opportunity for Will Ospreay, although he has recently expressed his discontent with it not being for the title. Ospreay feels that even though this is his first ROH match, he is well proven internationally and deserves the title shot just as much as anyone else on the roster. The next night, November 19, these men who have no love lost for one another will attempt to put their differences aside for one night in an attempt to defeat the ROH World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks in a non-title bout! Finally, on November 20 in London, Ospreay and Scurll will stand on opposite sides of the ring from one another since the Finals of BOLA when they clash one-on-one in London!
These two international talents have the potential to reshape Ring of Honor and no title should be considered safe. Keep it locked in to ROHWrestling.com for the latest details and announcements as Ring of Honor expands its global reach!
As noted above, they will each debut during the "Reach for the Sky" tour, which will feature:
11/18 in Liverpool at the Olympia: IWGP Tag Team champions The Briscoes & Kyle O'Reilly vs. ROH champion Adam Cole & The Young Bucks, ROH TV champ Bobby Fish vs. Will Ospreay in a Proving Ground match, Jay Lethal vs. Chris Sabin, Dalton Castle vs. Marty Scurll, Chris Daniels vs. Jay White, Frankie Kazarian vs. Lio Rush, Joe Hendry vs. Dijak
11/19 in Leicester at the Community Sports Arena: ROH champion Adam Cole vs. Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley vs. Jay Lethal, ReDragon vs. The Briscoes, Jay White vs. Joe Hendry, The Addiction vs. Dalton Castle & Delirious, Dijak vs. Lio Rush.
11/20 in London at York Hall: Will Ospreay vs. Marty Scurll, Matt Jackson vs. Jay Briscoe, Mark Briscoe vs. Nick Jackson, ReDragon vs. The Addiction vs. The Motor City Machineguns, Jay White vs. Dijak, Lio Rush vs. Dalton Castle.
I am told that of the three dates, London seems to be the one with the most buzz locally.
