Stine participated in a Halloween AMA on Reddit and dropped an unexpected tidbit on his audience: he’s working on comics for Marvel. Stine led with “I'm R.L. Stine and it's my job to terrify kids. Ask me anything!” and among questions about his popular Goosebumps series and whether Stine is afraid of the dark, one fan asked Stine if he had ever considered writing comic books. Stine replied that he was writing his first comics ever for Marvel, “But I'm not allowed to talk about them yet.” Stine didn’t reply further on the thread that sprouted from his response. Stine has more than 400 million books in print worldwide, making him one of the most popular children’s authors of all time. He began writing horror for teens in the mid 1980s, and he is best known for his children’s horror series Goosebumps, which launched in 1992. The Goosebumps franchise alone has produced close to 200 books. Goosebumps has been adapted into graphic novels, a television series, merchandise, video games, amusement park attractions, and a well-received 2015 film adaptation from Sony Pictures that starred Jack Black Stine has other popular series to his name as well: Fear Street (more than 150 books in the franchise), The Nightmare Room (15 volumes), and Rotten School (16 volumes).
