Relativity Alum Tucker Tooley, Entertainment One Form Movie Partnership
Entertainment One has signed a first look co-financing and international distribution deal for feature films with former Relativity Media President Tucker Tooley under his Tooley Productions.
Under the deal, announced Friday at the Toronto International Film Festival, Tooley will develop premium films to be co-financed and produced with eOne, while eOne exclusively manages distribution rights to Tooley projects in the U.K., Canada, Australia/New Zealand, Benelux, and Spain.
Additionally, as part of eOne’s partnership with Sierra Pictures, Sierra/Affinit will manage the international sales and servicing of films produced under the relationship outside of the territories where eOne directly distributes.
“We are delighted to be working with Tucker, whose deep industry relationships and creative instincts make him a standout partner for us,” said Steve Bertram of Entertainment One. “We are very excited to join forces to develop, finance, and produce films with strong global appeal.”
Current Tooley Productions’ projects include “6 Below,” Scott Waugh’s thriller based on the true story of former Olympic hockey player Eric LeMarque, who gets lost snowboarding in a massive storm; “Hunter Killer,” starring Gerard Butler, with Millennium Films and Original Film; and “Den of Thieves,” also starring Butler, with STX.
Tooley exited Relativity last October after the studio filed for bankruptcy.
While at Relativity Studios, Tooley executive produced David O. Russell’s “The Fighter.” His producer/executive producer credits also include Neil Burger’s “Limitless,” “Dear John,” “Haywire,” and “Safe Haven.”
Tolley Productions also announced Friday that Gregoire Gensollen, who was FilmNation’s senior VP of international distribution and strategy, has joined the company as exec VP of finance and strategy, overseeing financing, strategic planning, business development, and operations.
