Deadpool co-creator and prolific comic book writer-artist Rob Liefeld has signed with WME for representation. The move is seen as a sign that Liefeld may be ramping up his output or getting ready to make new inroads into Hollywood. Liefeld was one of the first superstar artists in modern comics history who was even prominently featured in Levi’s jeans commercials directed by Spike Lee in the early 1990s. He began his career working for DC Comics and Marvel, making his breakthrough when he took over The New Mutants. It was on that book that he co-created Deadpool, which was recently adapted into the hit movie starring Ryan Reynolds, and Cable, a key character in the X-Men universe. He also co-created X-Force before leaving Marvel in 1992 to co-found Image Comics, one of the most successful indie companies in comics history. He reinvented himself in the late 1990s and early 2000s as a purveyor of IP for Hollywood studios creating titles such as Shrink and The Mark, among others. Liefeld will continue to be repped by Energy Entertainment and attorney Gregg Gellman at Morris Yorn.
