On Episode 74, we talk to former ECW Senior Official, John Finegan! This is a great, great interview as John is open and honest, and even delves into a personal situation that I am not sure too many people even knew about.
We talk about how he got his entry into the business thanks to Dick Woehrle, and his early refereeing gigs, even refereeing for both the NWA and the WWF in matches involving guys like Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect, Arn Anderson, and Tully Blanchard. We go over the Tri State Wrestling Alliance, and how he got involved there, and how it led to ECW. We of course, go into great detail about some of his more famous ECW experiences. This includes the main event of Barely Legal, RVD vs. Jerry Lynn, the fall of ECW in early 2001, and much much more.
We also go over the Philly Indy Wars early in the 2000s, and John working with 3PW, XPW, and at first, Ring Of Honor. We talk about ECW One Night Stand in 2005, and his experience that night, including refereeing the main event, and being in the ring for The Sandman's famous entrance. We go from there to ECW One Night Stand in 2005, and working with Edge, Mick Foley, Terry Funk, Tommy Dreamer, RVD, and John Cena. The ECW reboot is discussed, and John talks about working shots for the now WWE owned version of the company, and the contract offer he received.
We also talk about working for TNA at Hardcore Justice in 2010, and refereeing the main event between RVD and Sabu, and John's feelings on all the ECW documentaries that have come out over the years.
John Finegan referees for ECW, Delco Pro Wrestling, and World 1 Wrestling. He can be seen July 23rd for ECWA in Woodbury, NJ, July 24th for Delco Pro Wrestling in Briarcliff, PA, and for World 1 Wrestling on July 30th in Morganville, NJ.
