Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski penned the most recent draft with Joe Carnahan penning the original. Roger Birnbaum is producing. The 1974 film was an adaptation of a novel by Brian Garfield and told of a man who goes on a revenge spree after his wife is killed and his daughter is sexually assaulted. Roth made his name in the horror genre with hits like “Cabin Fever” and the “Hostel” series, but has begun to slowly transition into more studio fare. He most recently helmed the thriller “Knock Knock” starring Keanu Reeves. Roth hasn’t left the horror genre, however, having recently written and directed the cannibal pic “The Green Inferno.” He is repped by WME.
