www.wrestlezone.com/news/719931-report-claims-wwe-has-called-kurt-angle-goldberg-jeff-hardy-interested-in-several-othersReport Claims WWE Has Called Kurt Angle, Goldberg, Jeff Hardy & More For Brand Split Returns; Interested in Several Others As we have already mentioned, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted on Twitter recently that WWE was reaching out to “lots of 40+ year old guys” to return to fill out the roster for the upcoming WWE brand split. According to a new report by Forbes, four names that have been contacted so far include Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio and Goldberg. The report goes on to say that WWE wants to bring Angle back to Smackdown, and that there have been talks of using him with NXT tag team American Alpha. Other names WWE is apparently interested in include Carlito, John Morrison, JTG, Shad Gaspard and Shelton Benjamin. While Forbes is generally a credible source for information, take this report with a grain of salt until it is confirmed by additional sources. While it does happen in wrestling, generally through “unofficial” channels, WWE may not even be able to legally reach out to Hardy and Mysterio, who are currently under exclusive contracts with TNA and Lucha Underground, respectively. We have reached out to WWE and several of the wrestlers listed for comment, and will update Wrestlezone with any information we can.

www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2016/0619/612794/more-on-wwe-contacting-older-stars/More On WWE Contacting Older Stars, Several Names Revealed Source: F4WOnline As noted, with the brand split coming up next month, WWE has apparently been contacting former stars about returning to the company. Dave Meltzer recently stated on Twitter last night that the company has ironically been "calling lots of 40+ year old guys to return for the new era." Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio last night that Carlito, MVP and Stevie Richards have all been contacted about returning. He didn't want to mention any other names, but did say that "everyone that's available is getting at least inquiries." One wrestler that was contacted said that they are making more money now working indys than they did working for WWE full time.

www.sescoops.com/ex-wwe-star-says-he-hasnt-been-contacted-about-return-new-nxt-talent-introduces-herself/JTG Says He Hasn’t Been Contacted About WWE Return, NXT Women’s Star Returns To The Ring By Daniel Pena on June 26, 2016 – A writer for Forbes claimed in a recent article that WWE is interested in bringing back Goldberg, Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy (who is under contract to TNA), John Morrison, Cryme Tyme (JTG and Shad Gaspard) and Shelton Benjamin, among other former Superstars. JTG is denying that he has been contacted by WWE. Chris Featherstone of Pancakes & Powerslam, a podcast JTG appears on, issued the following statement. I actually communicate with JTG relatively frequently, and had to reach out to see if these rumors are true as far as contacting him. He responded, “Nobody called me lol.” So, it looks like at least one half of Cryme Tyme can be extinguished from this rumored list.

www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2016/0707/613337/more-former-superstars-wwe-is-interested-in-bringing-back/More Former Superstars WWE Is Interested In Bringing Back, WWE Also Looking At Two Lucha Stars Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter WWE is reportedly interested in bringing back Curt Hawkins and Jimmy Wang Yang. Wang was backstage at Monday's RAW and teased something big coming up on Twitter. He also posted a photo from backstage at RAW, outside of Vince McMahon's office, and said he was waiting on his meeting. We've noted how WWE is looking at bringing back several former Superstars for the Brand Extension and one idea is to bring back the veterans that can still go as a way to put over the younger guys. WWE is also interested in signing Lucha stars Volador Jr. and Rush. Rush worked a WWE tryout last year when the company signed La Sombra, now known as Andrade "Cien" Almas.
