variety.com/2016/film/news/walter-cronkite-vietnam-movie-steven-spielberg-1201795645/ Walter Cronkite Vietnam Film in Development at Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment Steven Spielberg is reteaming with his “Bridge of Spies” scribe Matt Charman and producer Marc Platt on a pic revolving around Walter Cronkite for Amblin Entertainment. Amblin Entertainment has acquired a pitch from Charman that focuses on Cronkite’s relationship with the Vietnam War and the role that he played in turning public opinion against the increasingly un-winnable conflict. As of now, Spielberg is producing with Platt, as Charman has yet to pen the script. Spielberg is currently prepping “Ready Player One” for Warner Bros. and also has plans to shoot “The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara” with his “Bridge of Spies” star Mark Rylance, so it’s currently unclear if Spielberg would also have time to serve as director. Following his Oscar-nominated work for “Bridge of Spies,” Charman most recently penned the script to the CBS Films Boston Marathon bombing movie “Patriots Day” starring Mark Wahlberg. That film will bow this Christmas. Platt is currently working on several films including “The Girl on the Train” and Ang Lee’s “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.” He is repped by CAA and Grandview. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
