The film unfolds in an underground bunker, where children are being examined by scientists in the hopes of finding a cure for a fungal spore that has infected the planet. The post-apocalyptic thriller stars Glenn Close (“Dangerous Liaisons”), Gemma Arterton (“Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”), Paddy Considine (“The Bourne Ultimatum”) and newcomer Sennia Nanua. The BFI (British Film Institute) and Creative England financed the film, with Camille Gatin and Angus Lamont producing the picture. Bill Bromiley and Ness Saban negotiated the deal on behalf of Saban Films out of Cannes with Altitude’s Mike Runagall representing the filmmakers. Launched in 2014, Saban Films has released such films as “The Homesman” starring Tommy Lee Jones, “Tracers” with Taylor Lautner and “A Hologram for the King” toplined by Tom Hanks. Recent acquisitions include John Michael McDonagh’s “War on Everyone” with Michael Peña, Alexander Skarsgård and Theo James; Rob Zombie’s “31,” with Malcolm McDowell; and Renny Harlin’s “Skiptrace,” starring Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville.
