Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have signed to reprise their mismatched buddy characters. Sean Anders and John Morris are also returning to write the script and Anders to direct. The studio is keeping the logline under wraps. No word on a reprise for the rest of the original cast that included Hannibal Buress, Linda Cardellini and Thomas Haden Church. The picture became the highest offshore gross of any picture Ferrell has made. Ferrell’s repped by UTA and Mosaic, Wahlberg by WME and Leverage, Anders by UTA and Mosaic, and Morris by CAA and Mosaic.

www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/mel-gibson-eyed-daddys-home-2-970373Mel Gibson Eyed For 'Daddy's Home 2' John Lithgow also has an offer to join the cast. Mel Gibson’s Hollywood comeback is now complete. Paramount has made an official offer to Gibson to star with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in Daddy’s Home 2. John Lithgow also has an offer to join the cast. The popular actor and filmmaker, whose image took a hit in the late aughts, hasn’t done a pure studio movie since Disney’s M. Night Shyamalan thriller Signs, in 2002. Most of his other movies were made outside the studio system as execs and agents tried to steer clear of the actor-filmmaker. Even Edge of Darkness was made and financed independently, although Warner Bros distributed it in 2010. Just how contentious Gibson was is best encapsulated by The Hangover: Part II. Gibson was to have made a cameo appearance in the 2011 movie but a backlash within the studio and parts of the cast ended with him being unceremoniously dropped. (Liam Neeson replaced him.) But Gibson has been on an upward swing since Lionsgate released Hacksaw Ridge, his war movie biopic of conscientious objector Desmond Doss, in late 2016. The movie now has six Oscar nominations, including one for Gibson for best director, and has made $163 million worldwide. Daddy’s Home 2 will once again see the two types of father figures — the strong alpha male and the sensitive caring type — go head to head, but in this one the palette is expanding to include an older generation. If offers are accepted and deals made, Gibson and Lithgow would be that older generation.

deadline.com/2017/02/mel-gibson-daddys-home-suicide-squad-first-studio-film-in-years-1201911716/Mel Gibson Closes ‘Daddy’s Home;’ First Studio Film, Sequel In A Long Time UPDATE: Another trade has just picked up Deadline’s reporting that Mel Gibson is being courted by Warner Bros to direct the Suicide Squad sequel. If you’ve seen Gibson’s Apocalypto, it’s easy to see how he might add some inspiration to the DC collection of misfit superheroes. You can find the source of their information in the write-up below. It was written that way because it’s less than a sure thing. EXCLUSIVE: Deadline revealed last month that Mel Gibson and John Lithgow were being courted by Paramount Pictures to star in the sequel to Daddy’s Home, opposite Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Well, the deals have closed and this is a significant step in Gibson reclaiming his standing in town. This marks the first studio film for Gibson since 2010’s Edge Of Darkness and first studio sequel since 1998’s Lethal Weapon 4. Paramount isn’t the only studio pursuing Gibson for work; I’ve heard that Warner Bros has had conversations about Gibson directing Suicide Squad 2. Not sure whether that will happen; Gibson has spent years developing directing projects of his own, including one on the cutthroat Medici clan. For Gibson, this comes after the success of Hacksaw Ridge, which is nominated for six Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director. Lithgow just won the SAG Award for The Crown. So what do they play in Daddy’s Home? Here are the details: Father and stepfather, Dusty (Wahlberg) and Brad (Ferrell), are now working together to give their kids a perfect Christmas. When Dusty’s Dad (Gibson) and Brad’s Dad (Lithgow) arrive, their blended family conflicts rise to the surface. Sean Anders is back as director, and wrote the script with John Morris. Gary Sanchez’s Ferrell, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy and Kevin Messick are producing with Morris. Linda Cardellini, Owen Vaccaro and Scarlett Estevez are also returning. The original 2015 comedy grossed $240 million worldwide. Gibson is repped by CAA; Lithgow by UTA and Anonymous Content.
