But now Darth Vader's youngest portrayer is being transferred to a psychiatric facility after staying in jail for months. The Star Wars: The Phantom Menace actor was put in prison in June 21015 after leading law enforcement on a “wild, high-speed car chase” in South Carolina, which hit over 100 mph, the New York Daily News reports. Although the former child star has been in jail for 10 months, the justice system believes he would be better served in a psychiatric hospital while getting treatment for schizophrenia. Jake’s mother Lisa — who believes her son suffers from the mental disorder — has already reportedly noted a change in his personality after speaking with him just last week. There is no set “timetable” for the young man’s release from the treatment center, despite his many charges. While he was not driving under the influence during his multi-county police chase, the young actor was hit with counts for “failure to stop and driving without a driver's license.” We hope Jake continues to get the help he needs.
