icv2.com/articles/news/view/34062/250k-worth-comics-stolenOver $250,000 of Silver Age comics were stolen from Comics Plus of Macon in Macon, GA on Wednesday night. According to WMAZ, the burglar used a crowbar to pry open the front door, and then ripped out and destroyed the wires to the alarm system. The thief made off with the store’s safe, which according owner Will Peavy, only contained $2,200 in cash. What was more financially devastating was the loss of more than $200,000 in graded 1960s Silver Age comics. A set of 1963 Justice League of America #1 – 8 from 1963 and a run of X-Men #1 – 20 from the 1960s were stolen. Each set had a value over $100,000. Both sets were graded and thus have serial numbers. "They're pretty stupid," Peavy told WMAZ. "It's like stealing a car. If they try to sell them, they're going to get caught."
