Bad Moms aka the untitled Lucas/Moore comedy is moving up to July 29 from its Aug. 19 release date, while the interplanetary adventure The Space Between Us is taking over Bad Moms’ Aug. 19 date, and moving away from July 29. Bad Moms is from The Hangover screenwriter Jon Lucas and Scott Moore who are directing this comedy about the competitive world of motherhood. With Universal’s Jason Bourne currently slotted on July 29, Bad Moms would provide counterprogramming and provide an option for the ladies that weekend. Pic stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Jay Hernandez, Annie Mumolo, with Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Applegate. This also moves Bad Moms away from Hangover helmer Todd Phillips’ R-rated Arms and the Dudes on Aug. 19. Lucas and Moore’s directorial debut was the party pic 21 and Over which was made for $13M and grossed $48M at the global B.O. The Space Between Us is an adventure pic set in the near future, which is seen through the eyes of the first human born on colonized Mars. He gets the chance to visit earth for the first time at the age of 16. STX is shooting for a four quad draw here. Directed by Peter Chelsom, pic stars Gary Oldman, Asa Butterfield, Carla Gugino, and Britt Robertson. The Space Between Us will go up against Warner Bros.’ The Arms and the Dudes and Focus Features’ Kubo and the Two Strings.
