deadline.com/2016/01/the-fits-movie-sundance-oscilloscope-1201686047/Oscilloscope Acquires Sundance Title ‘The Fits’ Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired U.S. rights to The Fits, the debut feature from director Anna Rose Holmer It world premiered at the Venice Film Festival and is making its North American premiere at the Sundance Film Festival’s NEXT section. The fest opens Thursday. Oscilloscope will release the film in summer 2016 first at New York’s new Metrograph theater. The pic centers on 11-year-old tomboy Toni (Royalty Hightower) who is bewitched by the tight-knit dance team she sees practicing in the same Cincinnati gymnasium where she boxes. Enamored by the power and confidence of the strong community of girls, she spends less and less time boxing with her older brother, and instead eagerly absorbs the dance routines and masters drills from a distance, and even pierces her own ears in an effort to fit in. But when a mysterious outbreak of fainting spells plagues the team, Toni’s desire for acceptance becomes more complicated. Lisa Kjerulff and Holmer are producers. The agreement was brokered by Mongrel International’s Charlotte Mickie.
