www.bleedingcool.com/2016/01/16/fxs-legion-to-exist-in-a-parallel-universe-from-x-men-films/While FX‘s upcoming television series Legion is based on the troubled son of Professor Charles Xavier, his story will not be told as part of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men film universe, according to Entertainment Weekly. Speaking with reporter at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, FX chief John Landgraf clarified that the series will take place in a “parallel universe in which the U.S. Government is in the early days of being aware that something called mutants exist, but the public does not.” The series is described as being focused on David Heller, a young man presumed to be schizophrenic, but an encounter at a mental hospital leads him to believe the visions and voices in his head may be real after all. The project is being developed by Fargo mastermind Noah Hawley, who has several projects in the work at FX in addition to Legion. Landgraf said the series is in “active prep” with sets being constructed and the writers’ room staffed. It may air before the end of the year.
