Warner Bros. is in final negotiations to pick up the rights to Anne Hathaway’s alien invasion comedy “The Shower.” Hathaway is attached to star in and produce Jac Schaeffer’s script, which made last year’s Blacklist. The story is set at a baby shower that gets upstaged by a massive meteor shower. These meteors bring with them blood-sucking aliens from outer space that crash the party. Sources describe the film as a cross between the cult hit “Attack the Block” and the Kristen Wiig comedy “Bridesmaids.” Adam Shulman is producing the project along with Andrew Lauren and D.J. Gugenheim. Lauren is the head of Andrew Lauren Productions with Gugenheim, the company’s production president. Schaeffer will also produce. Chantal Nong and Nik Mavinkurve will oversee for the studio. Several studios considered buying the film, including Fox Searchlight and STX, before Warner Bros. put in a bid. Hathaway is currently filming “Colassal” opposite Dan Stevens and can be seen next in Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass.” She last starred alongside Robert De Niro in “The Intern.” She is repped by CAA and Management 360. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
